Kolonina is a tiny village located in Sikasso, the southern most region of Mali. A huge quantity of cotton is produced in this area. A nearby city Koutiala is called “the White Gold capital” for this reason. Fairly Covered started a partnership with local craftsmen. One of these artists, Lassina Berthé, initiated the project. He strongly wants to revive the Bogolan technique, and to give more value to surrounding raw cotton. The goal in future is allowing getting a long-term sustainable and economic development of the region.
